I found this monarch in my backyard, helpless in the grass. Its wings looked okay, but it could only fly a tiny bit. I picked it up and it wandered about my shirt, then perched on my shoulder. I held it for a while and it balanced on just one finger, calm and still. Butterflies are beautiful to watch from up close. I left it in the butterfly garden, where it has the best chance for survival.
